Adam Lambert put out clips from four songs from Tresspassing, “Cuckoo,” “Naked Love,” “Never Close Our Eyes,” and “Tresspassing.” There’s a poll here to vote on them as the next single.
I voted for “Cuckoo,” tho “Trespassing” may have a better hook for radio.
How does one effectively fight homophobia?
By showing a realistic portrayal of love between two people of the same sex on a show whose target audience (young, straight men) are the least likely to ever meet or see a gay couple in real life.
Sure, other shows show gay couples, but most are targeted to either a gay audience or to people who support/are comfortable with homosexuality.
To place a gay couple front and center week after week. Having them kiss and act, not like stereotypes, but like real (relatable) men who are also in love with each other. To show a healthy, happy gay couple on a program who’s target audience is made up of people who are very likely to have homophobic prejudices against gay people is probably one of the most subversive things to happen in modern American culture in decades.
